The Big 1-0

TEN days. We are almost to the single-digit countdown and it is hard to believe we are getting so close! This day seemed forever away, and now I am preparing last minute things, doing laundry to pack, and leaving for Minnesota/Wisconsin at the end of this week. Let the festivities begin!

Yesterday, my amazing sister (and maid of honor) and I spent 6 hours putting together bouquets. Let me tell you, when I opened the box of wood flowers and saw what was ahead of me I never wanted to open the box again. Putting the flowers together myself? Dying more because I was unhappy with the colors I ordered? Who let this bride out of the box?!

Honestly, though, it really has been so much fun to think about the details of this wedding and to thoughtfully create an experience for myself and our guests. In spite of my perfectionism, I have had a lot of fun finding my crafty and creative sides when I’m not swimming in stress for work. And the things I’m doing will be meaningful to me when I see them as part of the big day. BUT I also keep taking on more projects because I can’t stop the little voice in my head that says “well I could just do it myself and it would be so meaningful…” I *think* we are past that stage now – Emily will have to STOP ME if I try to go back there – and now we are finishing up the projects I already committed myself (us) to. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel – or the aisle, to be more accurate.

The day is going to be full of nothing but love. From the time I get up and pack my things to head to the venue cottage to get ready to the time I lace up my Gazelles and walk down the aisle toward my groom to the last dance at the end of the night… I cannot wait to see it all come together and to celebrate with the people we love most – whether in person or in spirit.

Wondering what to wear to our big day? See the “And the Answer is…” FAQ post I made a few weeks ago or check out the “our big day” section of this website. Here are a few additional teasers, though, in case you want to just end your journey here:

1 – We are going for a “Wyoming business casual” dress – if you want to call it that. Getting married in the summer on a beautiful farm calls for a bit more of a relaxed vibe. The groomsmen are in jeans and the bridal party is all wearing comfy Adidas shoes so we can dance into the night.

2 – Don’t forget to come early! Live music starts for our guests at 3:30.

3 – We love you. Whatever you do, bring a heart full of love and your best smile for photos.

Picture below: The only picture of my dress Momoh has ever seen. I think I am hilarious and he loves to tease me right back. He knows he has to wait — but only 10. more. days.
